SHOPPING FOR A MAN? CHECK OUT LOCAL PRODUCT LAUNCH

Port Orchard WA, January 17, 2008

Two local women entrepreneurs, Michele Wainwright and Leslie Amis, are proud to present their new line of jewelry charms with collectable trading cards. These whimsical, Hookupz charms™, represent the ‘dream men’ in women’s lives – whether they’ve found their fantasy man or are still looking. On Friday, February 1, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Gino’s Restaurant in Port Orchard, these charms will be available to the public for the first time.

“You’d be surprised how many talented people are on the Kitsap Peninsula,” Michele added. “Drew Thomes is an incredible carver and jewelry designer on Bainbridge Island who took our ideas and added his talent and imagination to create our charms. Also, one of our biggest challenges was finding the right graphic artist to design our collectable trading cards – we found the right person in Lesley Iacolucci in Gig Harbor. It takes a lot of people to bring an idea to life.”

Eight charms, including collectable trading card with the fantasy man’s ‘bio’, will be available for purchase at the launch: the Knight in Shining Armor, Blaze the Fireman, Juan the Pool Boy, Cody the Cowboy, Harly the Biker, Joey the Barista, Dan the Handyman and Victor the Military Guy. The charms are assembled with a lobster claw clasp for immediate ‘hookupz’ to a cell phone, charm bracelet, necklace or zipper.

All trading card ‘bios’ are humorous in nature except Victor the Military Guy. “We wanted to give the military wives and girlfriends something to wear proudly to honor the men in their lives,” explained Michele.

“Bringing our ‘men’ to life has been a real journey,” said Leslie. “We knew nothing about how to take our ideas and make them into reality. We just started asking questions, reading and researching – it’s been an education. We’ve had such great support from friends and family, too.”
